Towards national/regional policy platforms to manage antibiotic resistance - engaging civil society organizations for social mobilization, health education and communication

Goal

To Engage and Strengthen CSOs to address aspects of antibiotic resistance impacting child and maternal Health

Outcome

By end 2014, capacity of CSOs working in the areas of child and maternal health, are enhanced on AB and ABR themes in their health promotion programmes and projects.

Activities

1.1.0

CSOs capacity built for health promotion activities in AB use and ABR

1.1.1

One day stakeholder meeting with the  CSO’s to plan and strategize outcomes, outputs and activities

1.1.2

Conduct baseline survey on the knowledge, attitude, skills and practices within the CSOs

1.1.3

Meeting to report KABP Survey findings

1.1.4

Develop/adapt  IEC materials and translate existing information-education-communication (IC) and training materials/manuals for project site use (in national/local)

1.1.5

Conduct TOT workshops to build a team of community-based trainers on health promotion skills, including appropriate use of AMs, for use in each project sites

1.1.6

Conduct TOT workshop for the media to develop and strengthen local skills and knowledge on AB use and ABR

1.2.0

 Create a more supportive environment to facilitate positive health behaviour development, including AB and ABR themes, among CSOs and other relevant stakeholders working on health promotion programmes in the areas of child and maternal  health

1.2.1

Undertake orientation programmes on health risks and the need for health promotion skills training, which include AB and ABR themes

1.2.2

Discuss ABR issues discussed at Health and Partners/Senior Managers Meeting

1.2.3

Conduct half yearly one day seminar  with selected communities on AB and ABR issues

Organize sensitization meetings between civil society groups, health service providers  to share experiences and foster collaboration to address AB and ABR

Good practice documentation on health promotion interventions, including AB and ABR themes for policy and programme improvement.

Undertake process documentation on health promotion interventions, including AB and ABR themes

1.3.2

Conduct end term survey to measure project impact on positive development of knowledge, attitudes, skills and behaviour within participating CSOs

1.3.3

Organize a national-level  stakeholder  workshop  to disseminate findings on good practice

1.3.4

Regional workshop for policy makers, project partners, local stakeholders to share experiences and lessons learnt for advocacy on health promotion programmes on AB and ABR
